6 hour course
Goals:
- To explore the skills, knowledge and understanding needed in working with digital technologies
- To familiarise participants with the concept of digital citizenship what this means for 21st century learners
- To provide the opportunity for active participation when exploring issues including digital literacy; issues of privacy and security; internet safety; digital footprint and online identity and creative credit
- To provide opportunities for exploration into how digital citizenship can be applied to the 21st century classroom, using Discovery Education Secondary alongside freely available web resources
Outcomes:
- An awareness of what is needed in terms of skills, knowledge and understanding when working with digital technologies
- An understanding of what it means to teach and learn digital citizenship
- An understanding of the components of digital literacy and the importance of this in schools for 21st century learners
- Confidence to incorporate digital literacy to the 21st century classroom and utilize the resources in Discovery Education Secondary as well as freely available web resources

3 hour course

- To look at the concept of digital citizenship what this means for 21st century learners
- To explore the impact of issues on the 21st century classroom, including digital literacy; issues of privacy and security; internet safety; digital footprint and online identity and creative credit
Outcomes:
- An awareness of what it means to teach and learn digital citizenship
- An understanding of the issues that digital citizenship encompasses and the application of these to the 21st century classroom
