Integrating Discovery Education Espresso

Using the wide range of resources in Discovery Education Espresso, participants will experience innovative use of digital media to impact teaching and learning across the curriculum. Teachers will have the opportunity to consider how to incorporate resources for lessons tomorrow and will use a range of tools to support lesson preparation and differentiation. Participants will create collections of resources aligned to individual planning goals.

Duration options: 3 hours or 6 hours

6 hour course

Goals:

  • To experience innovative use of digital media to impact teaching and learning across the curriculum through different instructional strategies
  • To provide participants with the opportunity to consider how to immediately incorporate Discovery Education Espresso resources in lessons, alongside freely available web 2.0 tools
  • To explore a range of tools to support lesson preparation and differentiation
  • To support participants in creating collections of resources aligned to individual planning goals

Outcomes:

  • A thorough awareness of the impact that the use of digital media can have on teaching and learning across the curriculum and the instructional strategies that support this
  • An understanding of how to incorporate resources for tomorrow's lessons
  • Confidence to use a range of tools to support lesson preparation and differentiation
  • Creation of a collection of resources aligned to individual planning goals

3 hour course

  • To look at innovative use of digital media from Discovery Education Espresso and freely available web 2.0 tools to impact teaching and learning across the curriculum through different instructional strategies
  • To be aware of how to use tools on Discovery Education Espresso alongside free web 2.0 resources that support lesson preparation and differentiation

  • An awareness of the impact that the use of digital media can have on teaching and learning across the curriculum and the instructional strategies that support this
  • An understanding of how to use a range of tools to support lesson preparation and differentiation
