Embedding iPads across your school (2 days)

Designed to introduce iPads to teachers in the context of teaching and learning, this comprehensive 2 day course has two options:

Option 1: Day one will include working with SLT, audit skills, knowledge and resources and develop a strategy for implementation followed by a launch to all staff. Day two will be working with identified cohorts on planning and implementing.

Option 2: Day one will dive into the application of iPads to support engaging teaching and learning. Day two will explore the functionality of the iPad can be used effectively in to support different skills including working with text, images and video; creating lessons and freely available web 2.0 tools. Both options will use a rich variety of content from Discovery Education Espresso, with active participation providing immediately applicable tools and approaches to engage students through meaningful activities and achieve maximum outcomes.

2 day course

Goals:

  • To provide a personalised course for your school, working with SLT on a strategy of implementation
  • To introduce or extend teachers' knowledge and skills with iPads and explore how they can be used for maximum impact on teaching and learning
  • To familiarise participants with Discovery Education Espresso resources as well as freely available web 2.0 tools and how to effectively utilise the functionality of iPads with digital media
  • Through exploration, provide participants with an understanding of the wide variety of applications and how to plan and deliver effectively to enhancing teaching and learning
  • To provide immediately applicable tools and approaches to engage students through meaningful activities with maximum outcomes

Outcomes:

  • An understanding of how the functionality of iPads can be used effectively in teaching and learning
  • An understanding of the wide variety of iPad applications across the curriculum
  • An awareness of the resources in Discovery Education Espresso and how these can be used to support the integration of iPads alongside freely available web 2.0 tools
  • Confidence to incorporate iPads into teaching and learning, using engaging instructional methods to achieve maximum outcomes
