Claires Court was looking for digital content that could be used across the curriculum and was accessible to teachers and pupils anywhere, anytime, on all their devices. The senior leadership wanted an easy-to-use service to actively encourage staff to use digital resources as a matter of course whether that be in class or at home, for project work or for revision.
The Discovery Education Secondary platform appealed to Claires Court because it covers all the key subjects and the high quality videos are all relevant and age-appropriate. Discovery Education have completed a full systems integration with Google Classrooms so the resources can be easily introduced into their current teaching and learning environment. A group of digital leader teachers received professional development to help them explore the resources and consider innovative ways of using the digital media within their teaching. A number of students became Discovery Education Tech Champs so they can support and encourage staff and their peers to get the most out of Discovery Education Secondary.
Teachers are using videos to introduce topics to the whole class or they're setting independent research tasks, and students are using the resources for self-study and to support homework. Staff cite a key benefit of the video resources as the way they bring real-world scenarios into the classroom which become more tangible and easier for pupils to understand. Students express their trust in the resources and how the platform is making their study time more efficient - they used the service a lot for revision in the summer term!
