Discovery Education to host professional learning seminar on the effective integration of digital content at the Scottish Learning Festival on 23 and 24 September.

UNITED KINGDOM, 21 September 2015— Discovery Education, whose mission is committed to the highest standards of professional learning, will present a seminar on the effective integration of digital content at the 2015 Scottish Learning Festival (SLF), the largest education exhibition in the country. Held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow on 23 and 24 September, the theme of the festival is “maximising educational outcomes through local partnerships and collaboration, self-evaluation and work-related learning.”

The free, two-day educational event, attended by an estimated 4,300 delegates, will include professional discussions, professional networking with like-minded educators from across Scotland, and keynote addresses.

Discovery Education, together with teachers and pupils from partner schools Garrowhill Primary and John Paul II Primary, will present ways to successfully integrate media resources into teaching and provide a demonstration of the digital learning services, Discovery Education Espresso and Discovery Education Coding. These popular services engage and inspire pupils in thousands of schools every day through exciting interactive content that brings real-world context to learning and tools that drive creativity and achievement. Through attending this presentation, participants will leave with practical methods of raising attainment and achievement in class through the use of digital media.

We are proud to share our award-winning, video-rich, cross-curricular content with educators at the SLF, a well-renowned event,” explains James Massey, Educational Consultant at Discovery Education. “Discovery Education’s goal is to empower teachers with ready-to-implement strategies and bespoke professional development, to assist their students in being agile and knowledgeable digital leaders. Being a part of SLF will allow us to maximize educational outcomes for those who are attending this exciting event.

Discovery Education Espresso, suitable for Early to Second Level pupils, is a video-rich, cross-curricular, digital learning service that has won multiple awards and supports the delivery of Scotland’s Curriculumfor Excellence.

Discovery Education Coding is based on pedagogical progression and teaching Early to Second Level pupils the skills of coding as part of their wider learning. This service includes video tutorials and supporting resources to enable teachers to deliver the coding curriculum and assist students in understanding and applying computing programming skills.
