Put your class's critical analysis skills to the test with this special edition of Key Stage 2 News Bites. Some of the stories are entirely false, some include incorrect statements of facts and false sources, and some include misinterpretations of real events. Can pupils spot where the real news ends and the misinformation begins?
In this report we go through our special fake News Bites and highlight the fake facts, false figures and factual errors in each story. It also provides pupils with tips on what to look out for when they are reading or watching the news in the future, so they can learn how to spot fake news for themselves.
Why is everybody talking about fake news? Until a few years ago the term was hardly ever used. But now fake news is a big news story itself. We look at how social media allows fake news to spread around the world at the touch of a button - and what the Government and companies like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram and Twitter are doing to try to stop it.
