Four tech-savvy UK teachers will be inspiring their pupils this term after flying to a celebrated teaching event in the United States.

The group spent part of the summer at the Discovery Education Summer Institute (DENSI), a prestigious teaching and learning week which attracts educators from all over the world.

he UK teachers – from primary schools in Wandsworth, Putney, Faversham and Basildon – were chosen for their enthusiasm in using new technology to support pupil achievement. They were flown to Utah in late July, where they joined over 100 educators for a week of professional development at the Weber State University in Ogden.

Hayley McKechnie from Lee Chapel Primary School in Basildon, Laura Sparkes from St Mary of Charity Primary School in Faversham, Hiten Mistry from Putney High School and Joseph Reid from Trinity St Mary’s School in Wandsworth returned to the UK in August ready to put their learning into practice.

Discovery Education was delighted to give these teachers the opportunity to experience DENSI. The high profile event connects educators from around the globe, helping them to equip pupils with the skills they will need for a digital future.
