BETT 2016: Discovery Education shows schools how to reach their digital potential Discovery Education, one of the UK’s leading providers of digital content and professional development to schools, will be sharing innovative strategies for using ed-tech in the classroom at this week’s BETT Show. Presenting to teachers from across the UK and beyond, Discovery Education’s James Massey will lead an engaging, informative, and highly interactive session. This session will equip teachers with ideas and tools for effectively using digital content in everyday learning to engage students and improve achievement. Entitled Spotlight on Strategies – Riding The Wave When Using Digital Media in the Classroom, the session aims to boost teachers’ confidence in using digital resources, by providing practical ideas they can immediately implement in the classroom. It will also provide a taster of Discovery Education’s Professional Development services, which give schools access to expert training and continuous support to help accelerate their digital potential. The Discovery Education Espresso Dinosaurs Module, an engaging multimedia resource, which uses stunning Discovery Channel footage to bring dinosaurs to life, has secured the BETT Award Early Years Digital Content nomination. The Discovery Education Espresso Phonics Module is nominated in BETT’s Primary Digital Content category. Aligned to the DfE’s Letters and Sounds programme, the video-rich multimedia content is used in primary schools across the UK to prepare younger children for reading and spelling. And in the International Digital Education Resource category the Discovery Education Espresso Sweden service is up for an award. The service is used in over 600 Swedish primary schools, and provides digital media resources for all subjects from Förskoleklass to Year 6.
