Digital transformation: Why, what and how?

Applicable to all staff, this course provides compelling answers to the question Why make the digital transformation? Using both academic and evidence based research, this course will ensure that there is shared understanding about what 21st century education is, who the 21st century learner is and support schools with a journey of digital transformation. Educational frameworks will be used to facilitate the how design of a strategy, implementation or continuation plan for digital learning utilising the resources within Discovery Education Secondary.

Duration options: 3 hours or 6 hours

6 hour course

Goals:

  • To explore the question: Why make the digital transformation?
  • To familiarise participants with both academic and evidence based research
  • To provide a shared understanding about 21st century education and the 21st century learner
  • To support schools in their journey of digital transformation using educational frameworks that support whole school strategy
  • To facilitate the design of a strategy, implementation or continuation plan for digital learning

Outcomes:

  • An understanding of the benefits of digital transformation in 21st century education
  • An awareness of both the academic and evidence based research that exists
  • An understanding of the place of digital media in 21st century education and how it can improve teaching and learning
  • Confidence with the process of digital transformation
  • An ability to contribute to the design and implementation of a whole school digital transformation

3 hour course

Goals:

  • To look at what digital transformation means in the context of 21st century education and the learner
  • To support participants in beginning implementing of a strategy for digital transformation and provide experience to show the place digital media has in within the 21st century classroom

Outcomes:

  • An understanding of what place digital transformation has in 21st century education
  • Confidence to begin a strategy of digital transformation with an understanding of the place digital media has within the 21st century classroom
